History

The history of Super 322 Drive-In Theater

Built by the Theodore Grance Outdoor Theatre Co., the Super 322 opened May 26, 1950. Ownership changed hands until Royer and Favuzza bought it in the 1970s and added an AM radio sound system (Pennsylvania's second drive-in to do so), then FM stereo in the 1980s; removing the external speaker poles raised capacity to about 650 cars.

Bill Frankhouser, a union projectionist who worked there over 20 years, bought the theater with his wife Barb. It was granted eligibility for the National Register of Historic Places in 2001 and went digital for the 2014 season.
