History

The history of Becky's Drive-In Theater

William D. Beck ("Becky"), a projectionist who started out showing films on a bedsheet in his parents' living room in the 1930s, opened the Route 45 Drive-In at its present Walnutport location in 1946 with his wife Alice.

The state renumbered the road from Route 45 to Route 248 around 1971, and the theater was renamed Becky's Drive-In. Beck died in 1987 and Alice in 2007; their children and grandchildren have run it since, adding a second screen in the 2000s and a new refreshment stand in 2012.
